Yesterday, some quite impressive young teen-agers ( les jeunes ) rolled in with their own amplifier for what appeared to be a quite well-planned dance party. A slightly older shirtless man was video-taping them with a rather fancy-looking camera. Notice some of them are quite tiny--they appeared to be accompanied by their mothers. It looked like techno club dancing, but it was all so organized that it lacked a very rebellious atmosphere. The mohawks and white jeans were charming uniforms more than countercultural statements, what with the bougie mother taking pictures of the participating 9-year-old. Besides, the police walking by seemed as entertained as anybody.
